Sponsor a donkey or a race

The Folkestone Lions Club raises funds for local charities by getting people, organisations or businesses to sponsor a donkey or a race on the race card. This promotes and benefits the sponsors in two ways:

Firstly,  in the programmes for the event. These contain the race card listing the races and the donkeys taking part in them. They also contain advertisements from those sponsors. The size and placement of these depends on the level of sponsorship - the greater the sponsorship the larger and more prominent the advertisement.

Secondly, on the day itself, when the race marshall announces the races and donkeys over the public address system. Anyone wishing to place a wager with the Tote will also have to quote the race and donkey  as well - further reinforcement of the advertising message!!

Benefits to businesses

Local businesses will obviously benefit from the advertising in the programmes which are widely circulated before the event, from announcements on the day and, by prior arrangement with the club, a stall, exhibition or presence on site for the day.

Benefits to local organisations

If your donkey wins its race, you get a bottle of champagne as a prize!

Local organisations can have their own stall there on the day - either raising their own funds or just letting everyone know what they do. A great way to drum-up support or recruit new members! Sponsoring a race or a donkey is a great way of drawing attention to that stall.

Make it a special day

Whilst individuals may not benefit in quite the same way as a business or local organisation, it could be the way to make your favourite person's day special when the race or donkey is announced. e.g "The Fred and Freda Smith's Diamond anniversay stakes" or a donkey called "Birthday Boy - Billy Bloggs aged 9"

A suitable message or a photograph would be included in the programme instead of an advert.

Artwork service

It is strongly suggested sponsors produce their own artwork for adverts. However assistance is available from the contact on the order form (download from the button on the left) - ring us to discuss your needs!
